- AA.25 was oorspronkelijk de verkenningsafdeling van 25.ID maar als Heerestruppe een zelfstandige eenheid, die aan 9.LK was toegewezen. Op 10 mei werd de verkenningseenheid aan 56.ID toegevoegd, waar we 2./AA.156 - de enige divisieverkenningseenheid van 56.ID - als extra ondersteuning kreeg. AA.25 bestond zelf uit een bereden en een met fietsen uitgerust eskadron, naast een zwaar eskadron met anti-tank geschut, infanteriegeschut en een peloton lichte pantserwagens. Het toegevoegde 2./AA.156 was eveneens een met fietsen uitgerust eskadron.

- AA.25 werd na de inzet bij de Maasovergang ingezet in de sector tegenover Vak Bakel. Nadat AA.25 eerst enige verliezen leidde toen ze door de (ge vacueerde) Peel-Raamstelling trokken, en daarbij slachtoffer werden van enkele landmijnen, kwamen zij bij Helmond in gevechtsaanraking met elementen van I-27.RI. De Duitsers zelf meenden door burgers te worden beschoten. Ze verloren drie man bij dit gevecht.

- AA.25 was the original reconnaissance unit of 25.ID, but had become an independant recce unit of the army reserves. It had been assigned to 9.AK, and in the morning of May 10, 1940, assigned to 56.ID. The divisional recce unit of 56.ID, 2./AA.156 was attached to AA.25, sothat a formation was formed of two bicycle infantry companies, a horse-cavalry squadron and a heavy company comprising a platoon of light AFV's, a battery of anti-tank guns and a battery of light infantry guns.
- AA.25 was involved in the Maas crossing operation whereafter it was ordered in the morning of May 11, 1940 to agressively scout the Peel-Raam defences north of the city of Weert. It found the defences evacuated by the Dutch, and notwithstanding the loss of a few men due to cunninglt laid mines, it pushed on to the city of Helmond. There the forward elements of AA.25 were shot at by Dutch infantry on the west side of the canal west of Helmond, but the Germans suspected civilians being the agressors. The three lost German soldiers were almost reason to execute a few dozen of innocent civilans, but officers prevented further mishap.
